Nearly after two days when a group called #IstandwithNigeria as well as #onevoiceNigeria, staged a protest in Lagos, Abuja, Edo and Portharcourt; Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) on Thursday mobilized another protest over incessant economic hardship and poor governance in the Country.
The protest held in Yaba through Ikorodu road to Ikeja, in Lagos and Abuja. In Lagos, Lagos lawyer, Femi Falana and Charly boy were sighted among the protesters and they decried enough of poverty and economic hardship; they expected Nigeria Government to be accountable to all Nigerians.
In Abuja, President of Nigerian Labour Congress, Mr. Ayuba Wabba in his public address, demanded good governance, transparency and rule of law in the Nigeria. He further lamented over the corruption, poverty and economic crisis waging war against Nigeria and Nigerians while NLC submitted 18 point demand to the government. NLC representative also emphasized that Nigerians look forward to a day when Nigerian leaders should be accountable to Nigerian masses.
“Nigeria government is trying to ensuring good governance and accountability; salaries are always paid and government is addressing the problem of unemployment in the country”: Vice President Osinbajo said. He added during a meeting with the representatives of Nigerian Labour Congress that government expected Nigerian masses to always speak up against corruption and looting of resources in the country.
